This 73rd Independence we four friends decided to go for a short ride as well as a hiking stretch just 40kms away from the capital city itself. The place is known as Pandava Bakhara and certain locals say that The panchu pandavas spent their few days of their exile inside the cave.
With a little bit of ease in covid norms and shutdown rules relaxed we decided to leave Bhubaneswar at around 6am in the morning such that we can finish up everything and reach back to our home by 11am.But it was in our fate to not make into the caves as there was a continuous rain for around 2-3hrs just before our scheduled departure time.
Our plan was on the verge of getting cancelled but I was not at all giving up on my friends, called everyone and convinced them for a short ride near to Ansupa as hiking would have been quite difficult as well as dangerous.
So finally we left Bhubaneswar at around 7:30am and the weather was some how on our side because we were never drenched in rain all throughout our whole journey. We were 4 friends so decided to take 2 bikes i.e. RE Classic 350 and Bajaj Dominar 400.Our 1st stop was somewhere near the road that leads to Pandava Bakhara as you can easily spot the Hill right behind in the photographs background.
We did some sort of photo shoot and went on ahead to our final destination “Ansupa Lake”.Ansupa lake is around 52kms away from Bhubaneswar having a lake, eco park and picnic pindis nearby.
You will also find Ecotourism cottages and watch tower right beside the hill adjoining the Ansupa Lake. Though it was closed pertaining to COVID guidelines else we would have covered that too. The road to Ansupa is very much scenic as well as well maintained. This comes in Cuttack district and you can find vegetable farming on both side of the road. You can buy fresh vegetables at reasonable price directly from the farmers over there.
On The road to Ansupa you need to cross the mighty Mahanadi river and the view over this bridge was something worth mentioning over here. You can get freshly caught fishes over there sold by local fishermen.
After covering the Ansupa Lake we were returning back to our home we felt a bit hungry and it started drizzling. We stopped in the Dompada town and had some freshly prepared Aloo pakodi and fruits over there.
With this we ended our short monsoon ride of around 110kms with some photo shoot sessions right near the New Bhubaneswar Railway Station. We tried our best to capture everything interesting that has happened over the road throughout our journey.
This ride was in compliance with all kind of COVID protocols and we only took out mask to take photographs. I would request everyone to discover Odisha by road and am pretty sure you will not be disappointed with my suggestion.
IT IS THE ROAD THAT MAKES THE JOURNEY BEAUTIFUL NOT THE DESTINATION ITSELF.
